A landlord from Bellows Falls, Vermont has taken to the street in an attempt to coax her tenant into paying overdue rent.
According to a news report, the landlord lives at the property and rents out a couple of rooms. One tenant has not paid rent in months.
She told reporters if the situation doesn’t improve, she will face foreclosure.
The landlord tried to evict the tenant for non-payment of rent, but because the eviction notice was defective, the case was dismissed.
As a last resort, the landlord has staged a peaceful protest outside the home in the hopes she may shame the tenant into paying up.
Some of the landlord’s friends have agreed to stand with her, and may join in a planned sing-along, according to the report.
The landlord says she has since learned from other local landlords that the tenant has lived rent-free and avoided eviction in the past.
The landlord checked with police beforehand to make sure her protest did not violate the law, according to the report.
